How do I sign up for volunteering events?
Start by reviewing our monthly Event Calendar and browse the available volunteering opportunities. You can then sign up for individual events. Registration for new events opens mid-month for the following month.

How old does my child need to be to volunteer?
Our volunteer opportunities are designed for the whole family! Most events are best for children 5+, although younger siblings can attend with supervision. No drop-offs! All children must be accompanied with parent, grandparent or guardian.
Please note that some of our nonprofit partners have age restrictions. We always list this information within the event description.
How much does it cost to attend?
It is important that volunteering + giving back is accessible to all. So our In-Person events have a low cost FAMILY fee or are FREE, depending on the project! Tucson Family Volunteers covers all associated volunteering costs, including entrance fees, project costs + snacks.
For At-Home projects, we provide you with an approximate cost of supplies required to successfully complete the project. Many at-home projects can be done using supplies you may already have at home, such as paper, markers, scissors + glue. We also often provide printable templates.
How can I assure my child gets the most out of volunteering?
When you sign up for an event, you will receive an email that explains the volunteering project, who it benefits + why it is important. We encourage you to discuss the project details with your Kid Volunteer prior to the event.
Following the completion of the event, you will receive another email that recaps the volunteering project + how our community benefited. Within this email will also be resources to continue the learning and discussion at home.
Do I need to sign up for events, or can I just show up to volunteer?
Tucson Family Volunteers works really hard to not only provide our families with the best hands-on volunteering experience, but we also work closely with our partner non-profit organizations to fulfill their needs.
By signing up for events we can assure that we have the space and supplies for you to fully participate in hands-on (or at-home) family volunteering.
Why are some volunteering projects longer than others?
We strive to keep most of our kids + family volunteering events to within 60-90 minutes.
However, some of our nonprofit partners have special projects that exceed this time limit. This information is always noted within the event description.
Can I donate to Tucson Family Volunteers?
Yes, Tucson Family Volunteers is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. Your donation helps us provide hands-on, kid-friendly volunteer opportunities for families in our community. Every gift is generous + enables us to create more give-back projects throughout Tucson.
On average, most in-person volunteering projects cost $200. We cover all associated costs, including entrance fees, supplies + snacks.
My child needs Community Service hours for school or a club. Can they get volunteer credit?
Tucson Family Volunteers is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization so any donation of time, talent or treasure counts!
Please bring any community service forms that need to be signed with you when you volunteer, or contact us via email if additional proof of volunteer credit is required. We can complete a form with the type of project completed + how long it took and will email it to you.
